APR/Honickman First Book Prize - 2014 Winner: The Reformation by Katherine Bode-Lang

$ 15.00

Winner of the 2014 American Poetry Review/ Honickman First Book Prize, chosen by Stephen Dunn. Katherine Bode-Lang’s fierce and lyrical poems undertake the reformation of family mythology, place, and loves that each life requires to become its own. As Stephen Dunn notes in his introduction, “One of the classic tricks of actors is when you want to get the attention of your audience, you lower, not raise, your voice. Katherine Bode-Lang’s work is not a trick— her lowered voice kept attracting me.”

Katherine Bode-Lang was born and raised in western Michigan. Her chapbook, Spring Melt (Seven Kitchens Press), placed second in the 2008 Keystone Chapbook Contest. She has published in numerous journals, including The American Poetry Review, The Cincinnati Review, Tupelo Quarterly, and Subtropics. She earned her MFA in poetry at Penn State University. She lives in central Pennsylvania with her husband, Andrew.
